How It KEF’ing Works

From design to delivery to storage and maintenance.

We’ll start by picking out the appropriate size (length), colors and any custom elements or add-ons. Once finalized, we’ll provide you with design sheets for permitting.

Your contract will include delivery dates each Spring for the entire term of your lease. These will be available on a first-come first-serve basis.

New York City is a difficult environment. During the off-season, we will automatically touch up damaged paint and make any repairs to keep your Kef functional in preparation for the following season.

You can get your box(es) in any 10-foot increment up to 40'. They are all 8' wide. Custom lengths are available.

Once we receive your lease, we will create and send you building sketches for permit approval.
We cannot control the permit process or how long it might take.

If the permit is not approved we will either refund your security deposit or, if possible, make the changes required by DOT.

Your lease starts the day the box is delivered.

Purchased boxes start at $25,000 including initial delivery. We offer an optional annual logistics program to go along with your purchased box for an additional fee.

After we were commissioned to build the dining structure for Lure in SoHo last summer, we started getting into the DiningOutNYC realm. Recently, we launched our line of KEF products. "Kef," which means "happy", is not simply an open container -- we still manage to add aesthetic elements and a high degree of finish. They are compliant, functional, simple, and very adorable.

ootBox was launched in June 2020 with the intention of building beautiful container pods to help people during the pandemic. Our boxes are used from everything from popup hospital rooms to popup retail and backyard offices. Since the beginning, our business model has always centered around pairing highly functional, highly aesthetic containers with leasing. In March 2022 we were also featured on Shark Tank. At this point, we are masters at not only the building part, but also the logistics element.
